Golden Globes Glitz

It’s officially awards season! The glitz and glamour of the Golden Globes is always super fun for the fashion obsessed and this year was no exception!

Lots of risks were taken last night and most of them were an epic failure! It was certainly an interesting red carpet last night – especially since Sarah Jessica Parker and Sophia Vergara did NOT make my best dressed list! I liked their looks but they were definitely not my favorites!

Check out my favorite looks!

Priyanka Chopra was prettier than the actual Golden Globe in her gold Ralph Lauren.

Kerry Washington’s Dolce and Gabbana risk was one of the few that worked! So ready for Scandal to come back!

Natalie Portman channeled her inner Jacqueline Kennedy in a gorgeous chartreuse Prada gown. I have to find and watch that movie! Where is it? Did it come out in theaters on on television? It's so hard to remember where to find shows and movies nowadays!

It’s so hard to find a pretty ball gown with long sleeves! Busy Phillips looked great in her gown by Stella McCartney! I also really liked the flower applique - a different and unexpected twist for a Red Carpet look. Yet, it was still pretty.

Yvette Nicole Brown looked good in her sequined long sleeve gown! I could not find out who the designer was. When I do, I may be trying to purchase this one!

Speaking of not being able to find the designer…

Emily Ratajkowski had on a racy, yet pretty Reem Acra gown. As I searched for the designer, it took forever for me to find it because apparently, she thought it was a good idea to show her panties for photos! Not cool, girl! Of course, I had no idea who she was and had to do some researching. She’s a gorgeous girl! She needs a mentor, though. She may get a whole post dedicated to her soon… #lesigh

Janelle Monae was stunning in Armani Privé. If you haven’t seen “Hidden Figures” yet – GO IMMEDIATELY! It is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time!

Sternums were a thing last night! Jessica Biel took the plunge in Elie Saab and was gorgeous! Her husband obviously approved as well since I couldn't find a single photo of her by herself!

Regina King had me googling Romona Keveža – the first and only dress she tried on for last night’s festivities…

Some snarky, faceless writer said Thandie Newton’s Bardot dress looked like a cigarette…okay, it kind of does! It’s sexy, though!

These ladies definitely nailed it! Kudos to them and their stylists! On another note - some folks really need to stop playing and fly me out to LA to get the right for the next Red Carpet! I'm just saying!

I also have to shout out the ever dapper, Mr. Tom Ford who can now add Golden Globe nominated movie director to his vitae and was FLAWLESS on the Red Carpet! It is also super cool that his actors kind of felt obligated to wear him on the Red Carpet! Genius, he his!

Menswear tip: double breasted suits are uber chic - if and only if - they are tailor made to fit you and you do not have a gut! You're welcome!

Anytime you see an ensemble or piece you love on the blog, you can email Lys and she will be happy to secure the item(s) for you!
